Acerca de Álvaro
Since I was in high school, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I did not know about what, I only knew that I loved reading and that I wanted to share that feeling I had every time I read a book with more people. When I decided to study philology, I realized the importance of literature beyond the pleasure that grants you, and how it can shape oneself. Around the same time, I was starting to be acquainted with an English more on the didactic side. I remember not seeing myself teaching something that technical, until I started to work in an academy. I learned how to make learning a fun activity, and realized that the satisfaction you get when you see the students improve is enormous. You are not just helping someone achieve their goals, you are helping them to have a better life. I believe life is about learning and developing as a person. Limits are not meant to be insurmountable; they are meant to be challenging because crossing them makes us better. I like to think that I help with people's transformations by giving them knowledge.

I have been working in an English academy for the last year. I teach people of all ages, from teenagers to the elderly. I believe that the only way of learning a language is by speaking it, so classes are fully oriented on interaction and repetition. Lessons last for an hour, and all of them follow a very similar methodology: introduction to the grammar for the first part, practice with exercises and given structures for the second, and examples created by the student to see if the theory was understood. Apart from this, classes where grammar is not the central element are part of the course: learning how to communicate with people in specific situations, creating dialogues, working with vocabulary related to specific topics... the fluency will be given by these classes, while grammaticality with the former. I am a very young teacher (23 years old) eager to demonstrate my knowledge and to help people achieve their goals.
