I am a foreigner (Sri Lankan) and had a hard time passing TOEFL exam in order to apply for graduate studies at Ohio University (OU) as English is my second language. Even though I sat for TOEFL exam couple of times, I could not obtain the required marks (550 for the paper-based exam). Meantime, I met Jorge (4, 5 years back when I was struggling to get required marks to get TOEFL exam done) and he helped me to improve my English. He taught me how to approach for reading, writing, and listening papers efficiently.
His reading techniques for searching an answer for a given question really helped me on the exam. His opinions given on my writing improved my writing approach drastically. Especially in essay writing, he taught me how to write a good essay with a good start, important points, body, and an end. I managed to improve my English with Jorge’s invaluable and constructive help within a couple of months. Finally, I got the marks I needed to apply for graduate school and I entered to OU graduate school in 2014, Spring.
Jorge’s teaching style helped me a lot to get admission from OU and pursue my academic work. As a student whom successfully finished graduate school, I always recommend him to anybody who needs assistance to improve their English, especially as a second language.

I wanted to learn basic Spanish speaking and writing skills to communicate with my relatives and Spanish speaking customers around the world.

Jorge was able to teach me the basic communication skills within 6 months and tailored the lesson plans to fit my needs and learning skills. He was very patient and used conventional and new methods ( music) to teach and make me remember words. He provided good feedback and spent a considerable amount of time after class to help me master the language within a few months.

Jorge received his master degree in the Modern Language Department at Ohio University. As a professor of this institution, I have high regards for our graduate programs, which train teachers and researchers. The department of Modern Languages produces highly skilled teachers.
In addition, the work he executed for my lab was excellent. He is very professional and produced accurate translations. I also know Jorge has taught at several institutions of higher education in the United States and performed well. Thus, I strongly recommend him for this teaching position.
